4. Adjusting the Channels' Curves

Let's adjust the Red Channel to try to bring up a lot more color into our Apples and Oranges:

Throughout this tutorial we will be working with the Bezier curve (behaves much like the path tools but anchored at the two extremes) and not the pencil, which alows you to draw your own curve. Keep in mind that all Curves in this interface can have a maximum of 14 points only. After a bit of experimentation this curve seemed to provide the best results for bringing out the intensity of our Reds.

Let us take a look at the effect our adjustment had on our image and we can notice the increased sharpness and purity of the color:

Before moving on we can perform an optional step and save our current curve setup to be used at a later date or on the same image if need be. To save the curve just hit the Save Button:

Using the same steps from working with the Red channel, let's adjust our Green channel to help us bring back some of the Yellows and Greens .

Once again experiment on the curve until you get the desired effect and keep in mind that more often than not you only need to make minor adjustments to your curves to get adequate results.

And once more with the Blue channel:

Let's check our progress so far:
