2. Working with the Unsharp Mask

With our “Sharpened” layer highlighted go to Filters > Sharpen > Unsharp Mask. Applying and Unsharp Mask allows os to restore some of the lost detail of the image. Here is a brief description of the Unsharp Mask feature so that we can better understand it:

The Unsharp Mask does not detect edges in an image. Instead, it locates pixels that differ in value from surrounding pixels by the threshold you specify and increases the pixels' contrast by the amount you specify. So, for neighboring pixels specified by the threshold, the lighter pixels get even lighter and the darker pixels get even darker based on the specified amount.

Once the image is sharpened change the “Sharpened” layers blending more to Luminosity and Merge them together (Control + E).
