I love PS

I love PhotoShop and have been using it since version 6. CS3 is the first upgrade that I didn't feel was essential. Anybody agree?

I actually love CS3. I dont know about you but we have the whole CS3 package at work, including AfterEffects and every other imaginable adobe product and the fact that they can all interact with one another is outstanding. Sure, PS CS3 may look the same and there might not be "SO" many new features but the connectivity between applications is wonderful. I have to admit some of the features CS and CS2 brought us I did not find till CS3 lol

I loved CS2. I just think CS3 is getting a little bloated and over engineered.
Best regards-

The interface in CS4 will improve even more, when looking at the Fireworks & Dreamweaver beta's

But should people be upgrading for just a new interface. I'd rather see it patched

Bro, I still use PS 7.

You think if I jumped from 7 to CS4 it would be like waking up from a coma 20 years later?

Absolutely Photoshop 7 is 6 years old. Here's a nice list of what you have been missing:

Stuff in Photoshop CS3 that's not in 7.0
  • Faster launching
    win
  • Camera RAW 3.x
As a Photographer, this was the best thing to happen to me before Lightroom came out.
  • Detection and refusal to print scanned images of various banknotes.
    How? No really.
  • Scripting support for JavaScript and other languages
    I didn't even know that..

Finally!

Here's a vid of the new (still in development) PS CS4 interface on a Mac - Notice the application frame and read nrg's link for the skinny.

Holy crap. I feel like I've been in the stoneage for a while...man, if only I had some extra mulah, I would get CS4 right away.

But honestly, are there things you literally CANNOT do in 7 that you can in CS4? Or is it moreso that its much faster and easier to do the effects/techniques you want to do?

It really depends what you use Photoshop mainly for. How about the fact that you don't need to jump to Image Ready anymore when editing animated gifs for example, since the animation window is build in. That's just one improvement, there are hundreds more by now, since you waited six years to upgrade.

Surely it doesn't matter what version you use, as long as it meets you needs then you should be good to go!

I also love Adobe Photoshop 'coz that helps me to create good designs and layout for my art works and photographs. I've been using that also when I design the banner and menus of my website. I haven't any bad comments regarding it even the last upgraded version which is the CS3 extended. I think it's up to a user to have initiative on how to manage it well.
