[AS3] MVC for sites?
Old 2008-06-16

I have no idea how to approach properly architecting a website in terms of folder structure and how to organize packages, etc.etc. I have been looking into MVC and wanted to know who uses MVC for all sites/applications or do you not use a design pattern but a variation of different design patterns?

I am by no means en expert programmer, but I just can't wrap my head around how to bring everything together. Especially when dealing with different pages/views like if I have home, about, projects etc.etc.

Thanks
I'm going to eat your brain and gain your knowledge.

For the time being I am trying to create a SceneManager so to speak. For right now I think MVC is a little over my head and overkill for what I am trying to accomplish. I am slowly trying to create a clean way of handling pages within a site.

@codemonkey

Yeah I am talking about a full Flash website. Not enterprise level by anymeans, just a site that might have 4 pages like "home", "about", "contact", etc.etc.

dude, i was thinking the same thing today, i came to the forums just now to ask the same question!! weird.... im having trouble with organizing my own site, as3 is getting cooler the more i learn about it, but i think that there are so many different avenues i can take toward the same goal that i will get confused without a more structured approach

PureMVC a solution for Flex and Flash
I can highly recommend PureMVC for developing loosly coupled applications.

Unless you're very comfortable with OOP and MVC in general, I wouldn't suggest PureMVC. That said, it's never bad too dabble in it (although I'm not sure I like PureMVC too much to begin with).

I have taken a look at PureMVC and at this point, it is a bit over my head and overkill for what I am trying to start with. Once I wake up I will take a look at the link you provided codemonkey.

Thanks
