Google Analytics Tracking for Flash
Old 2008-12-18

Google analytics just added a new feature called "Event Tracking". This was already possible to do before but now with the release of a new client library is a lot easier.

From the Google Analytics page:

The Google Analytics Tracking for Adobe Flash component makes it easy for you to implement Google Analytics in your Flash-driven content. This component contains all of the functionality of the Google Analytics Javascript code, and is 100% compatible with the latest ga.js tracking code. The Flash Tracking component is a compiled tracking object native to ActionScript 3, making Analytics implementation intuitive in Flash, and Flex development environments.

I've noticed some websites using google analytics delay or make slower the acces, making me wait or sometimes "wait in a frozen lapse"

Still it's great that we can track Flash websites
It means those who run Flash websites can know how many people have visited their sites and how much time the visitors spent on a certain website or even web page

Actually it's much better than that, what you mentioned is the basic use for analytics , with the "Event tracking" you can track all the moves a user makes in you website, like for example what was the course of is action since he first arrived in the website, where did he click, how many times, which functionalities did he use, etc. Of course it will depend on the creativity of it's use but can be a great tool for marketing.

event tracking works better on html, php and java for obvious reasons... flash is incased.. ive also used visistat and exactostats before both have heatmap features.. enable to see time layered effects of traffic on your site... flash just limits your options in my experience...
