Scrolling HTML Text, What's the Problem?
Old 2009-06-17

Could Someone Please Help me With Scrolling HTML content.

I know it can be done because I see it in other sites.

But if I add the UI scrollbar component to any textField and try to load XML text into it, nothing happens.

If I set autosize to true, nothing happens.

I have read everything I can find on scrolling text in Actionscript 2 and can't figure it out. I just lost a huge project that has cost me six months of my life because the documentation for AS2 is so screwed up and incomplete that I couldn't figure this out.

I simply need to load XML text into a textField dynamically and I need it to scroll. PERIOD.

Please help. Thanks in advance,

Jase

Isocase, thanks for the reply, but I just get an error that the docfile is corrupt. I have tried opening it directly in FLASH CS4, Indirectly (by doubleclicking it in Windows) and it says the same thing. The SWF just says, "UNKNOWN ERROR". Any ideas? I appreciate your help.

That is pretty strange. I have no problems opening the file from US, maybe you need to re-install Flash?

Reinstalling Flash CS4. I am also going to try it on a windows XPSP3 machine instead of Windows 7-64bit. I'll report back thanks for the help.

Okay, flash CS4 just doesn't work on Windows 7 64 bit. I have had so many problems with it, I would highly recommend avoiding it all together. On XPSP3, your demo works great! Thanks for the help. I just wish XPSP3 wasn't so slow about everything. Well, back to the drawing board. Thanks again, jase
