Actually, this is a topic that is not allowed on Ultrashock. I can tell you though that I don't think your problem is hosting. A new host won't fix your forms. They can and will work properly there if you code them right. And anything below a dedicated server is not crap. That is a conversation that we probably can have. It would not be wise to pay for a dedicated server for one website. That's just plain stupid. Sorry BVX...but its not good advice. Plenty of good shared hosting plans out there, just can't tell you where they are here. |

I keep my personal sites on a shared server and I have no problems with it at all. The type of hosting you choose depends what your site requirements are and what its purpose is though, you wouldn't want to host Ultrashock on a shared server - it might be ok but wouldn't be a wise move. And no, discussions about specific server providers are not allowed here.

Yep, I shouldn't say its not wise for one website, like Nutrox said, that depends on the site. For most personal sites, shared hosting can be more than adequate - even better than dedicated because you are not responsible for every little thing that goes on in the hosting environment. You lose a certain level of support when you go dedicated. Also, if you are wondering why we can't talk about hosting its partly because of this:
There are a few hosting providers well-known among web designers (e.g. ********). These are big in marketing and hype, not so big in hosting - I guess I will be attacked by hordes of ** fan-boys for this statement, but that’s just my opinion.
That and probably some advertising issues.

I apologise for mentioning the name of a hosting company. I forgot all about the problems we had in USv1 with this type of discussions. I've 'cleaned' my post now. Also, my comment about anything below dedicated servers was a joke, I am currently on 2 plans - shared hosting for my website and VPS for more specific work. Every hosting plan (shared, reseller, vps, dds, etc.) has its target customers, that's why these niches exist. If you find a trustworthy host satisfying your personal needs it doesn't matter what plan you have chosen. Keep the discussion joke-friendly please And tiran - you can remove the company name from your citation.

Apologies if I was harsh - but it wasn't clear (to me at least) that you were joking. 1by1 was asking for advice and I thought that was something that could really lead him in the wrong direction.

I don't think anyone serious about web hosting can tell you who "the best" hosting provider is. It all comes down to your personal preferences and resource requirements. If you want to go with a top hosting you have to be ready to pay for it. Also, you cannot expect much from shared hosting (I guess that's what you are interested in).

Good luck!
P.S.: anything below a dedicated server is crap
