PC to PS3 using a wireless connection
Old 2008-02-08

Hi guys,

I have my PC and PS3 ( woohoo! ) hooked up to the same wireless network at home. Is it possible for me to access the PS3 from my PC? In a nutshell, I would like to be able to access the PS3's HD from the PC.

I'm not sure about it but check the IP numbers on your network, there's a lot of freeware lil programs to do that, then just do a is/is not list to know the IP of your PS3 anb try to connect.
As I said, I'm not sure if you could do that, maybe in digg.com you could find something.

Let me know if you get it working Nutrox. I have been thinking about getting the PS3 for a while. I am not big into gaming but I would rather spend my money on a machine that has Blue Ray and a game console, then just buying a Blue Ray player.

Nutrox,

I'm running Vista and haven't had any luck accessing my PS3 from my PC although I haven't spent much time looking for 3rd party apps to help make the connection. It works nicely the other way around though, if you haven't figured it out already. Are you just interested in poking around to see what makes it tick or are you planning something else?

BTW, congrats on becoming a PS3 owner!

@Isocase

PS3 rocks. It is a lot better than I thought it would be, and I was expecting it to be a top-notch bit of kit before I purchased it. A lot of the good games I am waiting for still haven't been released yet though. GTA 4 is released at the end of April, and Gran Turismo 5 is released sometime this year (no release date yet). There are some good games out at the moment though, I would recommend Ridge Racer for some crazy arcade goodness, and Uncharted is also a good game if you want a bit of an adventure. Uncharted is a bit short but the in-game action and the story are great. This year should be a good year for PS3 games though, all of the dev studios seem to be getting to grips with it now.

The console is top-notch though, and so are the controllers (still the best designed controllers ever IMO). I am more than happy with the PS3.

@ServerSide

I think I'm more curious than anything to be honest. It's quite cool being able to hook up the PSP to the PC and transfer files (screenshots, music, etc) so I wondering if the same would be possible with the PS3... but doing it wireless. It doesn't matter if it isn't possible though, it would just be a nice bonus if it was possible.
