Best technique for animation?
Old 2007-10-30

For most AS3 animations, is using a timer for animation generally better, or is the Event.ENTER_FRAME better?

Thanks

Everything I've read suggests and uses Events. Firing off a bunch of timers to animate multiple things would be a bit of a resource hog I would think, possibly cause some lagging/choppiness in the animation. Besides, unless things are different in FP9, I believe the timer is tied to the timeline anyway.

If the animation needs to be dynamic (i.e. you can't use key frames on a time line) then use the ENTER_FRAME event. Timers are no good for animation in Flash.
