As a developer or artist, who gives a flying rat's turd what software you use? It's the resulting design/app/game etc. that matters.
Ethically, there's no conflict between using OS software to develop commercial projects.
When using OS code, frameworks etc., you just need to check the license agreement. Many are very open, others require your whole project also be OS, others still ask for money or recognition for commercial projects etc. - but that's source, not design/development tools.
I think worrying about
what
software you use
will
negatively affect others' perception of you. You
should
be concerned with - "Can I get the job done efficiently and to the best of my ability?"
Who cares if it's OS or cost a billion dollars?
I dunno - seems silly to me - but maybe I don't fully understand your question.
My 2-bits.
