Hmmm, interesting. Is your system overclocked at all or do you have any bios settings that you have changed from factory settings? If it makes it through the installation and then BSOD's on reboot it could be due to a driver that vista is trying to download or has downloaded at the end of installation. Try installing with the bare minimum amount of hardware, ie only one graphics card (don't try to manually install any graphics drivers) and only the one drive needed for the OS. I wouldn't blame the board just yet, if your xp installation was fine and you could install the 32bit version of windows then chances are your board is ok.
