Hey B.Rhapsody,

Since you're doing a clean install, have you tried installing the 32bit version to see if it works? You shouldn't have to manually install any drivers during the vista installation process to get the os installed (that's one of the great features in vista). To me, it sounds like you have an incompatible or failing piece of hardware.
