I saw on TV today new free software that will ‘rip’ the DVDs that you personally own and allow you to recompress if needed or remove extras in order to fit the movie on one 4.7GB single layer DVD.  This is a great tool to archive your DVDs.

it’s so hilarious how this term “archive your DVDs” is used in todays world. Everyone know that 80% of users (if not more) just ripping rentals or copying friend’s DVD’s.  wink

Personally I don’t care but telling me that I need a software to backup my DVD which suposed to last forever (at least 100 years) is more than funny. So I guess it’s like that secret everyone know about but in the same time everyone pretending to be supriced big grin

PROXUS - I agree that there are some people out there that will use it to copy dvd’s that are not there’s….....but….....for those of us with kids, and tons of kids dvd’s, it can be a great program.  because i’ve replaced more than one dvd that my kids have either scratched or broke.

There are legitimate uses for software like this, the same as software like snag-it that captures screen images.

Its all in how you use the software.
