Reputation Explained

Hello Shockers, as you probably seen V2 has a new Reputation feature, what this feature does is basically let you approve or disapprove someone's post, depending on your "Reputation Power" youll add or subtract a certain amount of points to a user "Reputation Level". The Reputation system is a way for members of the forum to reward (or penalize) other members for informative, helpful, or even entertaining posts.

Ok, lets start explaining how it works.

You can see that on each of your posts you have a small "battery" icon with a number, that number is your "Reputation Power", thats the amount of points youll affect a user's "Reputation Level" when you rate his/her post.

To approve or disapprove a user's post you have to click on the YingYang icon at the right of his/her post, a window will open and youll be able to leave your comment on that post and rate it after clicking on the "Add to Reputation" button.

You can see your own "Reputation Level" by going to "Quick Links" and then to "User Control Panel"

On the first page of your "Control Panel" youll se a list of the "Latest Reputation Received" with information of the thread were the post was rated, the date, and the comment the user leaved, you wont be able to see the nickname of the user that rated your post, its quite obvious why. You can also see the amount of "Reputation Level" points you have.

Thats basically how it works, but there are some other things you have to know.

When you just sign in to the forum by default your "Reputation Power" is 0, and your "Reputation Level" is 10.

You get:

- 1 point of "Reputation Power" power for each year you've been registred
- 1 for every 500 posts
- 1 for every 100 points of "Reputation Level" you get

You need a minimum of 50 posts to be able to add or subtract to others "Reputation Level", if you have less than 50 posts you can still use the reputation system but it wont affect the user's "Reputation Level".

You can only approve or disapprove 20 posts every 24 hours.

You need to add or subtract reputation to 20 different users, before you can do it to the same user again.

If you click the YingYang icon on one of your own posts youll see if that post has received reputation or not, and in case it did youll see a list of the comments.

I hope this makes the reputation thing more clear

I was looking for information on the Reputation thing and found this, i think its interesting how you should use it and approve or disapprove a post.

"Reputation scores should be based on your reading of the message, not your opinion of the messenger. Perhaps more importantly, Reputation scores should be based on the quality of the post, not on whether you agree with the point of view.

If you like chocolate and a member posts a defense of vanilla, you should not automatically give a negative Reputation score simply because you disagree with the opinion. And you should not automatically give positive reputation scores to members or messages that you like, agree with, or simply support your position.

Ask yourself, "Would this post be helpful to a newcomer trying to understand the topic?" Is the post well written, informative, and reasonable? Is it especially clever, funny, or representative of the kind of attitude the community values? If yes, give a positive score. If not, give a negative score."
