Webcam Snow Effect

Virtual snow sticks to your head and shoulders on a webcam. Try wiping the snow off your head by passing your hand over it. Mouse position affects wind speed and direction.

You require a webcam to preview this effect. You may need to change your camera source by right-clicking the swf, choosing settings, clicking the webcam tab, and selecting your webcam in the dropdown list (ex. built in Mac cams are usually USB Video Class Video).

Works by finding horizontal light to dark edges in the camera feed, which the snowflake sprites stick to, and slowly melt. Great introduction to using webcams, filters, and sprites in Flash. Easy to modify to work with stage elements instead (ex. text).
